Meeting Minutes

Release of v0.31. All the information you will need you can find here on the Decidim blog: https://decidim.org/blog/2025-11-20-new-version-0-31-0/. Big changes include the release of the Elections module and Collaborative texts. Vast improvements to UI and no. of bug fixes. A full feature CHANGELOG can be found here on Github including for implementers upgrading notes: https://github.com/decidim/decidim/releases/tag/v0.31.0.

Due to the recent release, work on Rails 8.0 will begin from January 2026.

A new menu interface has been added thanks to work done by Alex & Tremend. The hamburger menu, if you will, simplifies UX from a user perspective of the platform, including on mobile. More details on this can be found here: https://github.com/decidim/decidim/pull/15134.

Release of more exportable data has been added to the Open-Data exporter, including survey responses from answered questionnaires published within the surveys module. The configuration settings of modules within the Participatory space are now also exportable via the Open-Data exporter. These are available in JSON (or Ruby Hash within the CSV to make them compatible). More information on this open data work can be found here: https://github.com/decidim/decidim/pull/15492 & https://github.com/decidim/decidim/pull/15615.

The Data-Migrate has been added to Decidim including also to the v0.31 release to handle the amount of migrations in a more streamlined way. You can find more details on this here: https://github.com/decidim/decidim/pull/15501.

David from Pokecode attended to share with the community current progress with the latest Docker install for the Decidim application, which can be found here: https://github.com/decidim/docker/tree/feat/decidim_install. Some big changes including the migration from rails.secrets to ENV. Still consideration to adopt workers like Sidekiq when building images. While not ready, it is due to be ready to use before the end of December 2025.

Once released, a tutorial video is planned in the works, which allows implementers & developers with various tech stack's to see first hand the steps and questions they might encounter while implementing Decidim.

In attendance we had representative from OceanMutual attended with questions and expressed interest in creating a digital community to connect seafarers, with Decidim being one of the considerations to use.
