It can be said that it does. When using the feature that allows to upload proposals and proposal's answers in bulk from an external file, both processes' followers and participants recieve a notification for each proposal and answer.

If the file has 200 proposals, for instance, the user will recieve 200 notifications; also, if the user has activated the mail notification, he/she will recieve 200 mails in a row.

We propose that using the "upload proposals and answers from an external file" feature, only one notification is send.

In that notification it can be shown a list of the new proposals or the list of answered proposals in order to give all the information. The process involved has to be shown too.

Also, the proposals listed should be linked.

Yes, we definitely need to re-define the notifications system. I remember when the Barcelona participatory budget proposals were accepted and the wave of notifications received 🤯 .

But for the case you propose, I think we should be more careful. From my point of view, the authors should receive a concrete notification that their proposal has been accepted, but for the rest of the followers we can think of a general notification.

However, on a technical level, I also find it difficult to see how we can differentiate these cases. I mean, when is this generic notification sent, only when the proposals of a component are answered en masse through a csv? Would the individual notifications still exist in case the proposals are answered one by one?

Thinking in the case of Metadecidim, where we answer proposals in rounds, I think it would be useful to avoid the flood of notifications. But I think that if we opt for a generic notification, it should show you the list of proposals that you follow that have been accepted in that "round".

In short, I agree that we have a problem with the excess of notifications sent, but I think that coming up with an optimal solution is not going to be that easy. This could be part of the general review of the notifications, proposed by @Pops in the element room 😉
