Who can become a member?
People over the age of 18 and organizations involved with the project and the Decidim community can be members. If you are between 14 and 18 years old you can also be a member, but you need the consent of your parents or guardians.
Requirements for people
Members can be those who participate and contribute in some way in the Decidim community through any of the following modalities:
- Participation in the community. Contribute to the project knowledge or practical experiences through different modalities (for example: organize an event, regularly attend debates, promote a working group, encourage dynamization or present a session) in different community activities.
- Development. Contributions to the platform code, project documentation or software translations.
Requirements for organizations
Those companies, cooperatives, associations, universities and other organizations that have agreed to fulfill and sign the Social Contract of the Decidim project and that fulfill any of the following conditions can be members:
- Management of instances. Manage one or more active facilities of Decidim at the time of the application, for the own use of the entity or third parties.
- Contributions to the project. Contribute or have contributed significantly to the Decidim project.
What about organitzations, cities and administrations?
If you represent an organization, city or public institution and want to be part of the Association, contact us by mail: associacio (at) decidim (dot) org.
And what if I do not meet the requirements?
We invite you to participate in the community Decidim, through its various channels that you can consult in meta.decidim.org. In this way you will be able to learn about our project, participate and opt to become a member.
Why do these requirements exist?
We want the Association to grow with the people and organizations that are really involved in the project. In this way, we try to ensure that debates, assessments and decision-making about the code and about issues such as governance really serve to democratically grow the project and the community.
Member Rights
Members have the right, among others, to participate in all the participation spaces of the Metadecidim platform with voice and vote, to exercise their vote in strategic and internal decisions, to elect or be elected in representative bodies, to request and obtain explanations on the management of the positions of the Association, to receive information on the activities and to make common uses that are established. Member Duties
The members have the duty to commit themselves to the finalies of the Association and participate actively to achieve them, contribute to the maintenance through the payment of dues and other economic contributions and comply with the agreements that are adopted in the governing bodies. Are the fees obligatory?
Yes, and they can be a reason to withdraw from the Association.
How does the verification work?
The Coordination Committee will carry out tasks of verification and evaluation of each case. This committee meets every 3 or 4 times a year. It will be in these meetings where the received petitions will be resolved.
What is the individual quota?
The annual fee for individuals will be 40€ per year. If you want to be a member and you can not assume this amount, you can write us an email and we will comment: associacio (at) decidim.org
