El Debate de los Cuidados
Descripción:
Charla relámpago
Currently, households, neighborhoods, and territories serve as spaces where families and communities develop productive capabilities related to Care Economies. These economies arise from the economic needs of caregivers, primarily impacting women affected by gender, class, and race inequalities. Tasks associated with the Care Economy, within a gendered division of labor, often undervalue non-profit-generating activities such as caregiving and domestic work. In Valparaíso, Chile, the "Somos La Joya" "We Are the Jewel" program involves a debate among 2000 caregivers using digital participation software Decidim to gather their insights. This initiative aims to integrate international perspectives to develop strategies for social and gender justice tailored to caregivers' reality. The innovative approach centers on women and gender-diverse caregivers, fostering a bottom-up design process, and empowering them within institutional structures. The components used in the process are 70 meetings for 2000 caregivers to be held at the facilities of the Municipality of Valparaíso. In addition, a Digital Debate to be conducted on the platform www.juntasdecidimos.com.
