Difference between scope and area?
Dear community,
I'm playing around with decidim and planing to utilise the platform within a municipal government. One thing I do not understand ist the difference between 'scope' and 'area'. Can anyone please explain how these two concepts differ from each other?
By the way, the machine translation of these two terms is identically in German. As soon as the concept is clear to me, I'll translate them accordingly.
Thank you in advance,
Eduard

@eduard review this comment on github from @carol https://github.com/decidim/decidim/issues/3540#issuecomment-427324532 for more information.
We're also using Areas to mimic the departmental structure of organizations and then apply specific permissions via custom module: https://github.com/gencat/decidim-department-admin
An other interesting thing is that scopes are linked with the ‘interest’ of the participants. If u create scopes, u’ll see in ‘My account’ a section which is ‘My interests’. If a participant check any of those scopes, then you can send a newsletter segmemted by one (or more) interests to all participants that have checked this scope in its account.
