Plans for migration off GAFAM are unknown: Decidim should not run on GAFAM-type anti-participatory software/organisations
Context
The whole point of Decidim is that decision-making should not depend on authoritarian organisations. GAFAM/AAAMM [1] is the opposite of Decidim.
Bug
Migration proposals ([4] old/tech-only; [5] private) are difficult to find.
Dependencies
Microsoft/GitHub (M in GAFAM)
Metadecidim emails - SendGrid [6]
Emails participant@decidim.org - Google (G in GAFAM)
Amazon S3 AWS (A in GAFAM)
Migration to community software+servers [2] will likely cause disruptions. Failure to migrate would leave Decidim vulnerable to EEE [3] and fail to support the existing FOSS ecosystem. Migration plans should be combined non-tech + tech decisions: institutional support would likely require political/funding decisions.
