Provide "Debate" as top level menu item
We are trying to engage our members in general debates that exist outside of participatory processes and so would love to have a "Debate" page as the first, top level item in the navigation bar.
By coincidence, we noticed that this is exactly how Consul structured their navigation: https://demo.consulproject.org/
On a similar note, it could be interesting to have a 'chat' top level tab, similar to what these guys have done: https://codefor.fr/

Hi John!
The navbar links module should be able to help you add items (internal or external) at the top level menu item : https://github.com/OpenSourcePolitics/decidim-module-navbar_links. As for Code for France, you could add a link to your organization chat (rocket/slack), or a direct link to a debate component (in a participatory process or assembly).
If the debate component doesn't work for your use case, may be the consultation module could be of interest : https://github.com/decidim/decidim/tree/master/decidim-consultations
I hope it answers your interrogations,
Have a good day!
Thank you for your responses Pauline, you're a life saver!
We're at the very beginning of understanding Decidim, so we're still learning everything and simplifying navigation for users is our top priority. We love so much about Decidim, but we're a bit worried about getting new users to important content, without needing to descend deeply into nested tabs, We have similar concerns about navigating through dozens or hundreds of debates.
We saw the Navbar module, but we were worried because it seemed to have failed some regression testing and wasn't supported by the core team. We're not experts, so we need to stick to a very stable configuration to minimize any troubleshooting.
We'll look at the consultation module, and do you think the Navbar module should install safely?
@Pops Hmm.. the navbar installation didn't work very well, it looks like it has a dependency from v24-dev.

Any suggestions on how to deblock that?
