Add user name and nickname next to avatar in conversations

Accepted / In progress

Is your feature request related to a problem? A clear and concise description of what the problem is.

Since group conversation are available we get feedback from users that not having the user name displayed next to the messages makes it difficult to understand who is speaking. Indeed one doesn't necessarily recognize users by their avatar especially if they didn'nt upload one.

Describe the solution you'd like

Add the name and nickname of the user close to their message so we know who is speaking.

Describe alternatives you've considered

Hovering on the avatar gets me the profile link of the user in the bottom left of my browser but that kind of pro tip that we can't expect users to know.

Additional context

Add any other context or screenshots about the feature request here.

Does this issue could impact on users private data?

Ex. issues related with user's sign up/sign in process, verifications, invitations, sensitive data like email, IP addresses, etc.

Yes

If funding is available, please indicate here which organization is funding it

Possibly Funded by CNRHR

@virgile_deville indeed, in group conversations especially it can be difficult if there are 2 participants without avatar. We suggest applying this design, which adds little noise to the UI, as we will also rethink the interface of the conversations in the coming months: https://imgur.com/kI8Q2dK

I noticed you didn't add the name above Carol's avatar. Don't you think it would be best to add it ? As many users don't upload many pictures it might clarify that the right handside is theirs. Or maybe I'm overthinking it.

I think this is a common pattern in messaging apps. For instance, in WhatsApp and Telegram I don't see my own name in my own messages.
