Upgrade last activity to only show activity related to areas a participant has said they’re interested in

Avatar: Official proposal Official proposal

Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.

The current "Last activity" feed shows platform-wide activity. This can reduce the relevance of the activity stream, making it harder for participants to spot updates in areas they actually care about.

Describe the solution you'd like

Filter the "Last activity" feed so it only includes items related to the taxonomies a participant has selected in their interests (from their account settings). Behaviour details:

  • When a logged-in participant views "Last activity", the system should query the participant's selected interest tags and return only activities that are tagged with matching taxonomies.

  • There should be an option to view the unfiltered feed.

  • If a participant has no interests selected, fall back to the existing unfiltered feed.

Describe alternatives you've considered

Provide a separate "recommended activity" feed generated by algorithmic inference from user behaviour (requires more complexity and may be less transparent).

Additional context

This change builds on existing taxonomies and the proposed feature to let participants select interests from account settings. It would improve discoverability and relevance of activity preferences.

Could this issue impact on users private data?

It might. The feature relies on users’ declared interests and will change what activity is displayed to them, which is personal preference data.
