A participatory process is a sequence of participatory activities (e.g. first filling out a survey, then making proposals, discussing them in face-to-face or virtual meetings, and finally prioritizing them) with the aim of defining and making a decision on a specific topic.

Examples of participatory processes are: a process of electing committee members (where candidatures are first presented, then debated and finally a candidacy is chosen), participatory budgets (where proposals are made, valued economically and voted on with the money available), a strategic planning process, the collaborative drafting of a regulation or norm, the design of an urban space or the production of a public policy plan.

About this process

Did you know that Decidim can be translated into any language collaboratively? For this, we use the Crowdin platform.

Can’t you find Decidim in your own language? Be the first and translate it into your own! This is what you need to do:

  1. Check that you are not missing anything. Maybe Decidim is already translated in your own language. There are more than 20 languages already available, including: Catalan, Czech, Dutch, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Hungarian, Italian, Japanese, Latvian, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Slovak, Spanish and Swedish. Here you can see the complete list: https://meta.decidim.org/link?external_url=https%3A%2F%2Ftranslate.decidim.org%2F

  2. If this is not your case, now is the time to change that! Go to https://translate.decidim.org/ and sign in our create an account.

  3. Choose the language you want to translate and request permission.

  4. If it is not yet enabled, you can request to be activated through this form

  5. Ready? Now you can start translating! Take in mind that as Decidim evolves, it is always necessary to improve and update the translations when a new version of the platform is released.

💁‍♀️ Some things to take into account:

  • We speak of Participants instead of Users whenever possible. Check the Glossary before you start.

  • In Spanish and Catalan we follow gender neutrality.

  • We always translate from English. Changes to the English language must be made on GitHub directly.
