Just few examples here to clarify:
In Helsinki:
- Rough ideas from citizens are called "Ideas" (Decidim calls them "Proposals")
- The votable budgeting items are called "Plans" (Decidim calls them "Projects")
- The finally selected "Plans" will be called "Projects" (Decidim calls them "Results"), but these will anyways go to a separate service outside of Decidim's context.
In a smaller town near Helsinki:
- Rough ideas from citizens are called "Ideas" (Decidim calls them "Proposals")
- The votable budgeting items are called "Votable proposals" (Decidim calls them "Projects")
- The finally selected "Votable proposals" will be called "Projects" (Decidim calls them "Results"), they want to use Decidim also for the follow-ups / consultations regarding these.
In my opinion something along these lines makes sense at least in our context because the ideas are rarely so well though out that they can be directly called "proposals", something concrete to implement.
They also want to keep the barrier low for entry, so people can post any ideas. I understand that in larger cities this could cause more trouble than worth but at least here it seems to be the way to get the "ball rolling".
As you also see from these two cases, the terminology can differ depending on the context.
