Conversation with Antti Hukkanen
While I'm at it, I may add here that also the word "Process" has gotten a lot of critique here in Finland. Some cities for instance refused to take the system into use unless that term is changed.
This critique is only about what is shown to the citizens, i.e. the front-end of the site. In the admin-panel they can be called processes, as far as I've heard.
While they are "processes", some people see this term overly heavy for people in regards of the participation aspect. They feel that if people see the word "process", they will already feel unwelcome to participate since they have to learn some complex "process".
While I've heard a lot of critique regarding this word, I haven't heard any alternatives for it either. This can be worked around in the UI, e.g. for Helsinki we just changed that word to "Participate", "Active processes" to "Active now" and also "X active processes" to "Active now" (they felt the number made that term clumsy without a noun).
Another note regarding this is that we've also made instances of Decidim where only a single process is active at a time. This makes the word process unnecessary as the UI can be directly the second level process navigation without having to select "Processes" and that particular process first.
