Propose new functionalities for Decidim software
#DecidimRoadmap Designing Decidim together
Possibility of adding images to the boxes that appear in the accountablity that are related to the categories
1. As an administrator, I want to have the option to attach an image when I create categories and subcategories.
2. As an administrator, I want to have the ability to indicate whether or not I want the category and subcategory image to be displayed on the accountability component.

@product / @carol do we PR to master?
Hi @oliver_valls, can you add some mockups to this feature? Thanks
Hi @product, @carol, here's how it would look like: https://imgur.com/gallery/9tkEe1M
The idea would be to keep the format as the proposals. Therefore, we add a box above so that it does not mix with words or progress.
Hi @carol and @andres_pereira , can you please give feedback?
Hi @oliver_valls! First of all, I'm so happy to see the predictive text with mentions as I write this comment!! 🥰
Ok, now with your question, here is my feedback:
I think this is a nice-to-have feature, but I miss seeing a more detailed mockup because it requires certain design decisions. Would it be possible to see a mockup applied to the example of Barcelona with the PAM?
https://www.decidim.barcelona/processes/pam/f/8/
More questions/doubts:
- What happens if you upload images for some categories and not others?
- These images are only shown on the first page of the accountability component?
- Once you browse within a category, the images of the subcategories are displayed?
I think that with a more detailed mockup and applied to a real example we can solve several of these questions.

Hi everyone!
A client is asking for something like that and could be interested in this feature, did you have the chance to move forward on this one?
Hi Pauline, we have not received any further feedback on the questions/doubts we raised from @product. Any update on this, @oliver_valls?
What is clear, though, is that the Accountability module could be improved overall as it presents some usability issues. In this regard, would you be interested in exploring these improvements, or for the time being would you just like to incorporate the images?
Thanks for the answer!
Actually, our client would be willing to improve the feature, by adding some filtering options on the results index.
Right now, the only filter possibilty is by scopes (& research bar).
It would be useful to add areas, categories and subcategories to those filtering options.
We just think it will be hard to add those filters, as it would require a rethinking of the component.
I'm posting a new proposal on "Propose new functionalities" to continue this discussion.
See here for more informations & mockup : Add filters option on the accountability component
we've just started with the mockup this week, I hope to post it here next week

Hi @carol / @product,
This are the mockups:

Hey Oliver, these links are blocked by an http login.
Hi @oliver_valls, thanks for the mockups! (links are no longer working though 😬)
About the idea of adding images to the categories, my main doubt is that there are other proposals related to this, like the fact of associating different colors to the categories (see for instance: https://imgur.com/UdjqzYl).
So, what is better? Using images? colors? both? On the other hand, it's worth saying that the use of images as background when you have to show a text on top is not usually the most recommended.
I'd like to have more opinions, especially from the people who have contributed to the design so far, like @furilo or @htmlboy. Do you guys have any recommendations on that? I'd still choose to test it with Sant Cugat and see how it works for them
@virgile_deville here's the mockup for mobile, in case you want to check it out: https://imgur.com/2Vp0RJQ
Thanks @carol for the response.
Thanks for re-uploading the mockups.
Just to clarify, there's a semi-transparent layer between the image and the text so there should not be any readability problem.
Also we can always combine colors and images being both optional.
Let's see what @furilo and @htmlboy say about the proposal
