Add "Ongoing" option to date filter on meetings

Avatar: Roxana Oprescu Roxana Oprescu

Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.
Currently, the default option for the “Date” filter on meetings listings is “Upcoming” meetings, and it displays firstly the meetings with large duration that includes the current date (more than 1 day) and the meetings that take 1 day are displayed after them.

Since there can be cases where we would want to see the upcoming meetings as for the most recent based on the current date, we suggest improving the options from this filter.

As a guest/registered user, I want to be able to see firstly the upcoming meetings that take 1 day and not multiple days, so that I can attend to them more easily.

As is “Date” filter:

Describe the solution you'd like

In this sense, on both on the meetings' master page and meeting component from participatory process, for the Date filter, we need to include the option "Ongoing", still having the "Upcoming" option as default.

In this way, the “Ongoing” option will include the meetings with larger duration, which includes as well the current date.

Acceptance criteria

AC1

Given a guest/registered user that navigates the platform When reaching the Meetings master or participatory process meetings listing page Then on the Date filter, it will see another option, “Ongoing”.

AC2

Given a guest/registered user that reaches the Meetings master or participatory process meetings listing page When using the Date filter, and selecting the “Ongoing” option Then the results listed will be the meetings that have the current date included in the Start/End dates.

AC2.1

Given a guest/registered user that reaches the Meetings master or participatory process meetings listing page When using the Date filter, and selecting the “Upcoming” option Then the results listed will be the meetings that have the start date/end date greater than the current date.

AC2.2

Given a guest/registered user that reaches the Meetings master or participatory process meetings listing page When using the Date filter, and selecting the “Past” option Then the results listed will be the meetings that have the start date/end date smaller than the current date.

Hi @RoxanaOprescu, while we understand the need stated in the proposal, we believe that this feature responds to a very specific use case, such as the Future of Europe Conference with an unusual volume of meetings. It does not seem that these dynamics are present in the rest of the instances to introduce a filter that will be used so little.

At least in the case of Barcelona (being one of the biggest) and its multiple installations and organizations use cases, we haven't seen this feature necessary for 99% of the process that we've made. We would like to hear feedback from other installations to see if they think this should be part of the default software or it should belong as an alternative implementation (like an override, module, etc).

Hi @RoxanaOprescu & @product!
I don't remember this need for a new filter ever being raised to us by a client, but maybe others at OSP will.
IMO, this need is not so much for a new filter, but rather to ask ourselves if it wouldn't just make more sense to put these short meetings first in the index.

When seeing upcoming meetings, I can expect to see shorter meetings before meetings taking place over several days. I'm not that sure about this and can't find any logical explanation, but I guess it feels more right ^^
