The future of the Internet
Internet for the people: deprivatising and democratising the net
Why is the internet so broken? What could ever possibly fix it? Ben Tarnoff will try to answer these questions with a whirlwind tour of the internet's history, and in particular the history of its privatization. Privatization programmed the profit motive into every layer of what was once a public network. In the process, it laid the foundation for the internet's current crises. The internet is broken, Tarnoff says, because the internet is a business.
