Request for extension of the current temporary Coordination Committee

To the Decidim Community,

Just one year ago we held the founding assembly of the Decidim Association, where a provisional Coordination Committee was appointed. This provisional Committee was in charge of making the necessary legal steps and setting up the bodies that would make the association fully operative. The deadline for carrying out this task was one year.

During this time we have made progress in all areas envisaged in the roadmap, but not at the pace we would have wished. For example: the definitive admission of the association to the register of legal entities of the Generalitat de Catalunya did not take place until October 2019. The legal steps to register the association with the Treasury are still in process.

In order to complete some tasks already initiated by the current Coordination Committee and to be able to make the changeover in a simple and democratic way, we propose to extend the mandate of the current Committee until September 2020. During these months the Committee commits itself to:

• Finish everything necessary to be able to start collecting fees from individual members of the association: registration with the Treasury, opening a bank account and approval of the individual membership fee. The steps in Treasury must also serve to initiate, as soon as funds are available, the recruitment of staff responsible for the administrative management of the association and the coordination of the maintenance of the code of Decidim.
• To reopen the possibility of membership.
• To carry out a participatory process that sets out in our Internal Regulations the procedure for the election of positions. Then (but out of the months of July and August), call for the election of members of the Coordination Committee and the Committee for Democratic Guarantees for the next four years (as established in the Statutes).

In the next few hours we will open a consultation in Metadecidim to approve the annual fee of 40 euros proposed at the last Open Assembly of the Decidim Association. The consultation will be open to all the founding members and the people who have shown interest in becoming members of the association.
