Redesign Decidim
🎨 Community participatory process for contributing to the Decidim redesign
As an admin, what 3 things would you improve in the Decidim administration section at the UX level?
After working these last few months on the redesign of the public part of Decidim, now it's time for the administration dashboard.
To start, we ask you to name 3 points (flows, components, sections, interactions…) to improve.
With the collected feedback we’ll work in a participatory workshop at Decidim Fest '22 to ground ideas and focus on the main improvements
Let's build Decidim together!
Please focus on naming 3 pain points to narrow down the debate.
✨Participate and help us make Decidim more user friendly!

Hello everyone!
Thank you very much for opening up the debate - the Open Source Politics team took the question very seriously, so we organised a workshop with people from product, design, tech, consulting and sales to discuss the biggest challenges surrounding Decidim.
We have over 50 post-its on the whiteboard with challenges and corresponding solutions. Challenge-wise, three categories emerged: 👓 readability (pure ease of use), 🧠 coherence and 🎨 visual presentation.
👓 Readability 👓
➡️ Challenges
Action button clarity: it might be difficult for new administrators to figure out what do certain buttons do - learning and understanding it takes quite some time;
Dealing with much content: some big cities or institutions that receive a lot of proposals might get lost in them and there is no way to find your way in it - it is not only a question of filters, but also in permissions. Having too many concertations is also a recurring challenge - they get lost pretty easily and the ones that are finished are not archived in another page but included in the list among active concertations.
Too many options and fields - some of them are not clearly described and so the administrators often don’t understand their purpose.
➡️ Solutions
Helper tooltip explaining the purpose of different terms, spaces and buttons.
🧠 Coherence 🧠
➡️ Challenges
Multiple spots to do the same task: module configuration and phases, welcome page customisation - these two and other tasks are managed in at least two different spots and often overlap, which is difficult to understand for new administrators. Technically it might make sense, but UX wise (where you would like to have a one stop shop for a single task) - not at all.
🎨 Visual presentation 🎨
➡️ Opportunities
More strategically used colours and icons
More animations 🙂

Best regards from Paris!
Found this metaproposal we did back in 2021 that could be relevant Add action button on the view to manage a proposal
