Possibility of customizing the image of the Home that is shared on social networks

Rejected

Now, the image that is shared is the hero image.

With this improvement:
-Customize with a different image to be shared in social networks through a section in Configuration (Backoffice)

If we have enough time:
-Possibility to customize an image for twitter and facebook through a section in Configuration (Backoffice).

This feature is funding by: BarcelonaEnergia (decidim.barcelonaenergia.cat)

This proposal has been rejected because:

After discussing and reviewing the PR for BarcelonaEnergia, we think that this should belong on their own module. One particular thing about this change is that there could be some missing APIs/contracts on decidim/decidim. For instance on this case we should make a partial only for this "Cards/OG/Twitter" metadata, now it's all on `app/views/layouts/decidim/_head.html.erb` and we should have a `app/views/layouts/decidim/_head_metadata.html.erb` or something similar.

Hi, to better understand the need for this, can you explain a little more why you need the image to be different? At usability level it doesn't seem very suitable and we don't know any application that allows it.

Hi @product. The specific need is for BcnEnergia.

When you want to share the homepage on Social Networks (Facebook and Twitter), the image that is being shown to be shared is the existing ContentBlock Image.

We have been asked to change this image that is shared, without the need to change the image of ContentBlock.

Perhaps it was not clear before, but it would be a matter of being able to modify the image that is taken by default when sharing to social networks. Right now, if there is no image (Process Main Image for example), grab the ContentBlock image.

Have we explained well? Do you understand the need?

Yes, perfectly explained, thanks! We still think that this is not the general convention, so as it is a specific need of BE and you have already implemented it, it is better to leave it in its application.

I don't agree :/ We have the opportunity to customize the image according to the social network. The twitter card is not the same as the facebook card. From our experience we know that to get a real engagement with the participants the communication department has to be behind. Everything that is to facilitate a better communication I believe that it should be accepted :-D

I don't having such a capability would hurt at all. I'd probably make use of it in some cases as well.
